3Dfx Interactive sues nVIDIA

The hardware race keeps getting louder. 3Dfx Interactive said it has filed suit against nVIDIA Corporation in the Northern California District Federal Court asserting patent infringement. 3Dfx Interactive claims that Nvidia is using 3Dfx Interactive’s unique patented multi-texturing technology in nVIDIA’s newest product called Riva TNT.

The suit follows repeated attempts by 3dfx to reach a mutually acceptable solution with nVIDIA.
