Analogue 3D Update Adds Internal Graphical Upscaling for N64 Games
Analogue's 3DOS v1.5.0 firmware adds internal horizontal upscaling for N64 games on the Analogue 3D, doubling pixel count without affecting 2D elements or timing accuracy.
Analogue has released firmware version 3DOS v1.5.0 for its FPGA-based N64 console, the Analogue 3D. The headline addition is “Internal Graphical Upscaling,” which doubles horizontal resolution without touching 2D elements, promising enhanced detail and clarity while preserving original hardware timing. It works alongside Analogue’s Original Display Modes, so sharpness doesn’t come at the cost of authenticity.
The update also makes loading a saved Memory state instant and adds a “Recent Memory” startup option that drops you straight into your last save when you power on the console, a small but meaningful quality-of-life bump for cartridge players. Elsewhere, RSP core behaviour has been refined, progressive video support was expanded to fix jitter in certain games, and a handful of controller and OS bugs were fixed. Time Extension has reproduced the full patch notes.
Analogue’s hardware has always walked the line between cycle-accuracy and modern convenience. This upscaling feature pushes that balance further. No emulation box, no messing with settings; just an FPGA and a cartridge slot doing more than they could before this update.
