ATI supports AMD Athlon Processor landed today, giving players another thing to circle on the calendar.

ATI Technologies is behind the announcement. ATI Technologies today announced the availability of drivers for its RAGE 128 family of graphics chips that offer high performance and full-featured support for the AMD processor family.

Optimizations for current AMD processors not only provide significant performance improvements over non-optimized drivers, but also enable industry-leading quality enhancements for the most popular features, such as MPEG-2 and DVD acceleration. Performance optimizations for the next-generation AMD Athlon processor are available from ATI now, with feature optimizations for MPEG-2 and DVD to come.

PC hardware is moving stupid fast right now, and this is one more part of that arms race.
