Sierra Names Its Babylon 5 Space Sim: Into the Fire
Sierra's space combat sim is officially Babylon 5: Into the Fire, with original cast members filming new game segments on the show's actual set.
Sierra Studios has put an official name on its Babylon 5 space combat sim: Babylon 5: Into the Fire. Better still, the announcement confirms that members of the original television cast have reunited to shoot segments for the game, alongside new characters created just for this title.
The shoot ran in two phases. The first was filmed on the actual Babylon 5 set, and the second used a blue screen technique so virtual sets can be added in postproduction. Sierra says regular viewers will recognize plenty of familiar locations as the game unfolds, among them the ISN news desk, the bridge of an Omega, the squad bays, and the station’s sanctuary.
A space sim shot on the real sets with the real cast on board? That is exactly how a license like this should be handled.
