Banjo-Kazooie native PC port with randomizer and online co-op announced for July
Harbour Masters is bringing a native PC port of Banjo-Kazooie with a standalone randomizer and online co-op, built from the Lighthouse decompilation, coming in July.
Harbour Masters, the group behind native PC ports of Super Mario 64, Ocarina of Time, and Majora’s Mask, has revealed its next project: a native PC port of the N64 classic Banjo-Kazooie, built from the 2024 Lighthouse decompilation. A teaser video posted June 15 promises a release sometime in July.
The port, named Lighthouse after the Treasure Trove Cove landmark, includes the interpolation and widescreen features expected from Harbour Masters’ work, plus a standalone randomizer that shuffles notes, Jinjos, Mumbo Tokens, empty honeycombs, and Jiggies, as well as abilities. Online co-op is also shown, in both the vanilla game and romhacks, with randomizer compatibility planned. The team says they have ‘support for any hack made with Banjo’s Backpack’ that doesn’t rely on MIPS code injection, and they’re exploring Archipelago cross-game randomizer support down the line.
This isn’t the first Banjo PC port — Mr Wiseguy released a recompiled version earlier — but decompilation-based ports open the door for deeper modding and cleaner integration of features. Like all Harbour Masters releases, you’ll need to supply your own legally obtained copy of the game. It’s another example of how the decompilation scene is quietly keeping N64 games playable and tinkerable far beyond what official emulation offers.
