Battlezone II in the Arcade

Battlezone II in the Arcade is today’s industry move, and it is one more reminder that the games business is growing up fast, whether it is ready or not.

Virtual Games they have signed a licensing agreement with Activision, for the blockbuster Battlezone II and one other yet unnamed game. The licensed games will be modified by Virtual Games for future arcade play on their Virtual Reality platforms. Battlezone II is presently scheduled for release by Activision during October 1999. “As Virtual Games moves into our Beta Site phase and prepares for our production shipments, we must achieve a steady stream of new and exciting games that will be showcased on our technologically advanced Virtual Reality platforms, the VRX-633TM Single Platform and the DPX-633TM Dual Pod Networked Platform.

It is business news, sure, but these moves shape what games get made, what stores carry them, and who is still standing next year.
