Blue Byte files lawsuit against Logicware is today’s industry move, and it is one more reminder that the games business is growing up fast, whether it is ready or not.

Blue Byte Software, Inc. filed a lawsuit against California based Logicware earlier this week in the District Court of Travis County, Texas, charging Logicware, Inc. with breach of contract, claiming general and special damages due to loss of profits. Blue Byte commissioned Logicware in February 1999 for the development and port of The Settlers III to Macintosh OS. The suit was filed after Logicware consistently failed to live up to their obligations and meet the project milestones during the port development cycle.

It is business news, sure, but these moves shape what games get made, what stores carry them, and who is still standing next year.
