Croc 2: Kingdom of the Gobbos remaster announced for Q4 2026
Argonaut Games is remastering Croc 2: Kingdom of the Gobbos for Switch, PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, and PC, targeting a Q4 2026 release.
Argonaut Games is remastering Croc 2. Announced July 30, Croc 2: Kingdom of the Gobbos is heading to Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X and Series S, and Windows PC on Steam and GOG, targeting a Q4 2026 release. Wishlisting is open now on every platform except Switch, where Argonaut is taking email sign-ups until wishlisting goes live.
This is the follow-up to last year’s Croc: Legend of the Gobbos remaster, and Argonaut has said all along it was the plan if the first one sold. Co-CEO Mike Arkin noted that Croc 2 ran on a completely different engine to the original, which posed its own remastering challenges. The project restores the development-era name Croc 2: Kingdom of the Gobbos (it originally shipped as just Croc 2) and brings back the museum idea from the first remaster as the Croc2pedia, packing in cut content, development materials, and interviews with the original and remaster teams.
Croc 2 was always the more varied of the two games, and that is what the remaster has to protect. Beyond jumping and tail-spinning, Croc triple jumps, rides minecarts, races cars and speedboats, glides on a hang glider, and flies a wooden airplane across more than 40 levels. Argonaut is promising quality-of-life improvements alongside the visual pass, which is the right call: the charm was never the problem with these games, the controls were. Physical editions and further release-timing details are due later this year.
