DirectPlay 6.1a is out now. They have released DirectX 6.1a, which is designed to optimize specific multiplayer communication protocols used by DirectPlay and accommodate certain anti-piracy schemes that are coming into widespread use by game publishers.

The timing of this release is to support titles currently in development or recently released by publishers. The DirectPlay 6.1a Release contains two Versions: a retail version and a debug version. This release allows applications to use an encryption technique (anti-piracy) that utilizes what they call a ripple launcher. This encryption technology is increasing in use by several publishers to prevent piracy.
