Dragon Slayer Level 2.0 Lands on Switch via EGG Console
Falcom’s 1984 action RPG Dragon Slayer, in its Level 2.0 revision, hits the Switch eShop for $6.49 as an EGG Console release.
D4 Enterprise has released Nihon Falcom’s 1984 action RPG Dragon Slayer on the Nintendo Switch eShop for $6.49. The port is based on the Level 2.0 revision, a 1984 overhaul of the original PC-8801 game that rebalanced difficulty and added quality-of-life changes. It is part of D4’s EGG Console retro series, which brings vintage Japanese PC titles to modern platforms.
Dragon Slayer casts the player as a lone adventurer who must recover four stolen crowns from a three-headed dragon, swapping between a limited set of items in maze-like dungeons. The Level 2.0 revision made the cross item effective even when left on the ground, removed monster-spawning graves after the dragon’s defeat, and halved experience earned. It’s a chunk of Falcom history, and its arrival on Switch is another quiet act of preservation from the EGG Console label.
At $6.49 it is an easy pickup for anyone curious about one of the foundational titles of the Japanese RPG. Falcom is also reportedly working on a new Dragon Slayer project, so revisiting the original now might not be a bad idea.
