EA has filed suit against Zynga in US District Court for the Northern District of California, accusing the social-games giant of infringing the copyrights in its Facebook game The Sims Social. EA claims Zynga’s new game The Ville willfully copied the original, distinctive expressive elements of The Sims Social in violation of US copyright law, with Maxis GM Lucy Bradshaw making the case in a blog post. It’s a notable shot from one social-gaming heavyweight at another.
