Eidos Extends Publishing Deal with Squaresoft landed today, giving players another thing to circle on the calendar.

Eidos plc is behind the announcement. Eidos plc announced that it has extended its publishing deal with Squaresoft for Final Fantasy VIII on the PC throughout Europe and Australia.

The Final Fantasy series has become one of the most successful franchises within the video games industry. To date, the Final Fantasy series has sold in excess of 22 million units world-wide coupled with record breaking figures of pre-sell in Japan for the release of Final Fantasy VIII on the PlayStation.

We will see if it lives up to the pitch, because the late-1999 release calendar is not exactly taking mercy on anyone.
