Fallout: New California, the full conversion mod for Fallout: New Vegas, is now on GOG. Until now, playing it meant pulling files off Moddb or Nexus and hand-managing the install alongside a handful of other recommended mods or making sure Nexus downloaded the right files. On GOG it installs and launches for anyone who owns Fallout: New Vegas Ultimate Edition, on a storefront that ships games DRM-free.

The project isn’t new, just newly easy to get. In Fallout: New California you play as the kid from Vault 18. Orphan. Loner. Mutant. On the last big night of the Vault Ball season in 2260, you make a fateful decision that will change the course of your life — and eventually the future of the New California Republic.

The reason this matters isn’t the store page. A years-long fan project that lived on Moddb the Nexus, behind a fragile chain of manual downloads, now has a stable home that installs in a click. That’s the difference between a mod you have to hunt for and one that’s still here in ten years.
