GameCube Internal Bluetooth Kit v3.5 Pre-Orders Open
LaserBear's internal Bluetooth mod for the GameCube is back in stock for pre-order, now at version 3.5. The $100 kit supports four wireless controllers, wired passthrough, and remote power.
LaserBear has opened pre-orders for a new batch of its internal Bluetooth kit for the Nintendo GameCube, now at version 3.5. The kit, designed by Greg, allows up to four wireless controllers to connect while keeping all original wired ports active, and it adds the ability to turn the console on and off via Bluetooth.
Priced at about $100, the kit is based on the open-source BlueRetro platform and claims some of the lowest Bluetooth latency available. Installation involves opening the console and light soldering, but the process is well documented. The new batch retains the features of earlier versions with minor refinements.
For anyone looking to modernize a GameCube without a tangle of external dongles, the internal kit is a compelling option. It solves the wireless problem cleanly and, if you’re using multiple controllers, can actually be cheaper than buying individual adapters. If you only need one pad or want to move a Bluetooth adapter between systems, an external plug-and-play dongle still makes more sense.
