HEAT.NET is giving away Dreamcasts before launch
Sega-sponsored prize matches on HEAT.NET will give away Dreamcast consoles ahead of the September launch, starting with a week of Quake 2 play in late June.
Sega is putting up the prizes for HEAT.NET matches from July through the console’s September launch, and the first prize is the console itself. Play Quake 2 on the service between 5 and 7 pm Pacific any night from June 28 through July 4 and you are entered in a drawing for a Dreamcast bundled with three games. One entry per night, so a full week of fragging puts your name in seven times, with the drawing announced during the week of July 5. HEAT refs will hang out in the Quake 2 lobby those evenings to field rules questions.
HEAT.NET claims 1.6 million registered gamers and says it is the first and only place giving the console away early. A free Dreamcast months before you can buy one is worth a few evenings of Quake 2 in anybody’s book. Future prize match dates go up in the service’s events calendar.
