HEAT.NET Launches 60-City Road Tour Ending in HEATSTOCK ’99
HEAT.NET kicks off a 60-day, 60-city road tour today, ending at HEATSTOCK '99 in San Francisco, billed as North America's largest real-life gamer gathering.
HEAT.NET is spending its summer on the road. The Road to HEATSTOCK ’99, sponsored by GameCave, kicks off today in Portland, Maine, and will roll through 60 cities and towns across the United States and Canada over 60 days, staffed by a crew of HEAT personalities including Ember, Cyberscribe, WildRoma, and Hippie Chick. The finish line is HEAT.NET’s world headquarters in San Francisco, where the crew will host HEATSTOCK ’99 itself, which HEAT is billing as North America’s biggest in-person gamer gathering yet.
You do not have to chase the bus to play along. The crew will file daily stories and photos from the route, highlights hit HEAT.NET as webcasts almost as they happen, and stay-at-home types can fire off free e-postcards from the tour bus and jump into prize events, with Sega Dreamcast consoles and a year of Road Runner cable modem service in the prize pile. Weekly real-life gatherings are planned in major cities along the way. A shot at a Dreamcast is reason enough to keep an eye on that bus.
