Launch of Game One announced

More bits for the download pile. Video game publisher Infogrames Entertainment and Europe’s leading digital broadcaster, Canal Plus, have announced the launch of Game One, Europe’s first video game channel. The unique new channel, going live via satellite the second day of ECTS, offers six programs of around-the-clock news, reviews, features and inside perspectives on the world of video games, and marks the industry’s first major push into the broadcast medium.

Game One, the new company, is the product of an $8 million joint venture announced earlier this year between Infogrames Entertainment and Canal Plus. The collaborative partnership will rely primarily on advertising and sponsorship as its revenue source.
