Machines Shipping is the story today, and it is the kind of late-April 1999 news blast that makes the pre-E3 season feel like someone kicked the hornet nest. Acclaim Entertainment today revealed that their new game, Machines for the PC will head to stores to retailers across the country tomorrow and will be on store shelves as early as Wednesday, April 14th. Developed by the Nottingham, UK-based Charybdis, Ltd., Machines allows gamers to manage their units on a broad scale, but gives them the added ability to get inside individual vehicles and shoot it out in battle, spy on and sabotage their foes. the title boasts beautifully rendered real-time polygonal environments with multiple camera perspectives, including overhead, third person and unique first person command capabilities. Machines also packs in comprehensive resource management, Internet gameplay, and more than 50 different machines with 25 unique weapons.
Bottom line: if this is your kind of game, start watching the download pages and store shelves. April has been stupidly busy, and this one just joined the pile.
