The useful part: Allegiance, being developed by Microsoft Research and published by the MSN Gaming Zone, is an online-only space combat game that combines fierce ship-to-ship combat with the strategic elements found in real-time strategy games. As we enter our Beta state, we are recruiting volunteers to try their hands at controlling the various ships found in Allegiance space. The ride will probably not be as smooth as you like… If the download behaves, this is the cheapest way to find out whether the hype has legs.
