ModRetro’s M64, an FPGA-based Nintendo 64 console, goes on sale today for $229. The M64 Pro controller launches alongside it at $90, available in both wired and wireless configurations with an aluminum backplate.
The M64 runs a port of Robert Peip’s open-source MiSTer N64 core, adapted with Peip (FPGAzumSpass) and the M64 team to run on an AMD FPGA capable of 4K HDMI output. ModRetro plans to open-source the ported core after launch, the same approach they took with their Chromatic core.
Our M64 is on order and look for a review in the next couple weeks from us.
