Motorsims Taps Marimba’s Castanet to Auto-Update Its Racing Sims
Motorsims will use Marimba's Castanet software to deliver automatic updates for its online racing service ahead of AMA Superbike's summer launch.
Motorsport Simulations, the outfit going by Motorsims, announced a deal today to run its online racing channel on Marimba’s Castanet software, delivering updates to customers automatically instead of making them hunt down patches. Castanet will push and refresh race simulation data, including the company’s large track databases, across a range of operating systems, hardware, and devices.
Castanet is the same update-management plumbing used by AltaVista, Corio, Intuit, and OnSale, so Motorsims is not betting its service on unproven software. The company’s first product, AMA Superbike, launches this summer. For a racing sim that lives and dies on current, accurate track data, automatic delivery is the right problem to be solving before launch, not after.
