NVIDIA Ships TNT Drivers Tuned for AMD’s 3DNow!

NVIDIA's new RIVA TNT and TNT2 drivers are tuned for AMD's K6-2 and K6-III, with claimed gains of up to 40% in benchmarks and real games.

NVIDIA released a new driver set today for the RIVA TNT and TNT2, and this one is aimed squarely at AMD owners. The drivers are optimized for the K6-2 and K6-III, and NVIDIA claims performance gains of up to 40% in leading industry benchmarks and real-world games, covering both DirectX 6.x and OpenGL.

The other piece is AGP. The new drivers improve AGP performance on AMD systems, specifically AGP texturing, so large textures can move from system memory straight into the graphics pipeline. There are quality fixes in the package too, and NVIDIA says it is built to stay compatible with its future graphics processors.

If you went K6-2 instead of Pentium II to save some money, this is your day. A free 40% is the kind of upgrade my wallet approves of. The drivers are up for download now.
