Orbitals physical release on Switch 2 confirmed as full cartridge

The retro anime-style co-op adventure Orbitals will launch on Nintendo Switch 2 on September 3 with a physical release that includes the complete game on the cartridge. No download code, no Game-Key Card nonsense: just a card you put in and play. That’s the opposite of the direction Sony took this week when it announced PlayStation’s disc-based releases would end by 2028.

It’s a small story, but it matters for anyone who still values the permanence of physical media. The Orbitals team originally confirmed the cartridge back in June, and now they’re showing it off while the industry talks about disappearing discs. The game is a Switch 2 exclusive with a distinct retro-anime look, and the eShop also lists a Deluxe Edition with skins, a digital artbook, and a soundtrack.
