SEGA has confirmed that its free-to-play action MMORPG Phantasy Star Online 2 is coming to North America and Europe in 2013. It’s been more than ten years since I sank countless hours into the original PSO on the Dreamcast, so a proper sequel landing in the West is genuinely exciting. SEGA says it wants the successor to live up to how revolutionary the first game felt at release, and for a lot of us, that’s a tall order worth rooting for.
