July 1998 keeps moving, and today the headline is simple: Prey Development Update. Paul Schuytema from 3D Realms who is the project leader for Prey, has made a development update.

Prey is now going to be utilizing DirectX API instead of Glide or OpenGL. On the coding side of things, we made a huge decision-we decided to move Prey into DirectX territory to support multiple 3D cards. As you know, we’d been developing under Glide and we’d been tentatively planning to utilize OpenGL as our support API. For PC players watching every demo, patch, driver and announcement right now, this is one more thing to keep on the board.
