RTIME used in The Discovery: Gene Wars landed today, giving players another thing to circle on the calendar.

Advanced Productions is behind the announcement. Advanced Productions, Inc. (API), a division of Software Engineering of America, and RTIME, Inc. today announced an agreement to incorporate the RTIME Interactive Networking Engine into The Discovery: Gene Wars, an action/RPG title for the PC scheduled for release in Q1 2000.

Discovery, the first game from API to provide multiplayer support, is the latest in a series of interactive entertainment titles developed by API for both Super Nintendo and PC platforms, including War 2410, War 3010, and Fading Footsteps. The Discovery: Gene Wars utilizes a proprietary, state-of-the-art motion capture system and custom-built 3D graphics engine.

PC hardware is moving stupid fast right now, and this is one more part of that arms race.
