Entergram has announced Sentimental Graffiti Re, a full remake of the 1998 Sega Saturn dating sim Sentimental Graffiti. The original game was part of a wave of late-1990s romance adventures anchored by character designer Mutsumi Inomata and a cross-media push that included drama CDs and radio shows. It never left Japan, so for most players in the West this is the first real chance at an official translation.

Entergram is keeping details thin for now. No platforms or release date were given, though the company did reveal a cast of voice actresses for six of the heroines, with the remaining roles to be filled by audition. That suggests production is at least far enough along for casting, but still a ways out.

Niche Saturn titles getting a second life is the kind of news the retro scene should celebrate. Sentimental Graffiti has never been easy to play outside Japan; a modern remaster opens the door for a much wider audience and lifts the original from the fog of import-only obscurity. The remake’s art direction and tone will be the deciding factor, but the announcement alone is a preservation win.
