Ubusuna, Ikaruga successor, may continue development after M2 cancellation

Hiroshi Iuchi says development of his shoot-em-up Ubusuna may continue after M2 cancellation, with a new team and funding talks underway. No guarantees.

Hiroshi Iuchi’s shoot-em-up Ubusuna, once in development at M2 as a spiritual successor to Ikaruga, may not be dead after all. In a public post reported by Time Extension on July 10, Iuchi stated that he still owns the pre-M2 concept and system specifications, a small team has gathered, and funding talks have begun. He was careful to add that completion is not guaranteed.

Ubusuna was cancelled after M2 pulled the plug, leaving its future uncertain. This update, while far from a revival announcement, suggests the project has at least a heartbeat. Iuchi’s shooters carry a weight that makes any sign of life worth noting, even when that sign is just a cautious post and a lot of work ahead.
