VR-1 Crossroads to use Microsoft DirectMusic

March 16, 1999: VR-1 says its upcoming massively multiplayer game VR-1 Crossroads will be the first online-only game to incorporate Microsoft Direct Music API.

VR-1 Crossroads to use Microsoft DirectMusic hits the March 1999 news desk on March 16, 1999. VR-1 says its upcoming massively multiplayer game VR-1 Crossroads will be the first online-only game to incorporate Microsoft Direct Music API.

VR-1 Crossroads, a text-based role-playing game, will use Direct Music to create an immersive, audio experience where unique, non-repetitive music and sound effects correspond with the players' actions and locations within the game. VR-1 Crossroads will be coming soon to America Online's Games Channel. It is not the loudest kind of gaming news, but the business and community machinery matters. Games do not appear out of thin air.
