Will Wright Lands on Entertainment Weekly’s It List

SimCity creator Will Wright has made Entertainment Weekly’s It List, the magazine’s cover-story ranking of the 100 Most Creative People in Entertainment in the June 25/July 2 issue. Wright shares page space with movie stars like Heather Graham, Catherine Zeta-Jones, and Drew Barrymore, and he is not the only games representative on the list: PlayStation inventor Ken Kutaragi made the cut, and so did Pikachu. Yes, Pikachu.

EW’s write-up credits Wright with spawning millions of amateur city planners through SimCity, and points to The Sims, his game due this fall, as the likely next hit: it hands players godlike control over the people who actually live in those cities. Gaming taking three spots on a Hollywood list is a small thing, but it is the kind of small thing that keeps happening.
