Yes records a song for Homeworld

Prog legends Yes have recorded a single inspired by Relic's upcoming RTS Homeworld. It debuts on tour this summer, on the new album, and on the game's soundtrack.

File this under sentences I never expected to type: Yes, the prog rock band, has written a song about a computer game. While recording their eighteenth studio album, The Ladder, in Vancouver with producer Bruce Fairbairn, the band met hometown developer Relic Entertainment and came away inspired by the back story of Homeworld, Relic’s upcoming real time strategy game for the PC. The single, also called Homeworld, debuts on the band’s late summer tour and lands on the album this fall.

Sierra Studios will put the track on the game’s soundtrack when Homeworld ships this summer. These are the guys behind Fragile and Close to the Edge, thirty years and 28 million albums into their run, now writing about a space RTS. 1999 keeps getting stranger, and I mean that as a compliment.
