About This Game

Divinity II is an action-RPG developed by the Belgian studio Larian Studios, part of the Divinity fantasy series that the studio would later make famous with Divinity: Original Sin and Baldur's Gate 3. First released in 2009 as Divinity II: Ego Draconis for Windows and Xbox 360, it was expanded and reissued, culminating in the definitive 2012 Divinity II: Developer's Cut, which bundled the Flames of Vengeance expansion with rebalanced content and developer commentary tools. The game casts the player as a Dragon Knight, a warrior able to read minds and ultimately transform into a dragon, caught in the world of Rivellon's conflict between dragons and the slayers sworn to destroy them. Gameplay combines third-person melee, ranged and magic combat with deep RPG systems, branching dialogue and the standout ability to take dragon form for aerial combat across the open landscape. A distinctive feature is the Battle Tower, a personal base the player develops and staffs. Reception warmed over its successive editions; reviewers praised its humour, ambition, dragon transformation and freedom while noting rough technical edges and uneven pacing in the original release. Divinity II is regarded as a formative step in Larian's evolution toward the celebrated RPGs that followed.
