About This Game

Journey is a 2012 adventure game developed by thatgamecompany and published by Sony Computer Entertainment, released initially on the PlayStation 3 and later on PlayStation 4, Windows, iOS and other platforms. The third game from the studio behind Flow and Flower, it is a wordless, contemplative experience in which the player controls a robed figure crossing a vast, windswept desert toward a distant, glowing mountain. With no dialogue, combat or explicit instruction, the game communicates entirely through visuals, motion and Austin Wintory's Grammy-nominated orchestral score, as the traveller glides across dunes, explores ruins and ascends toward an emotionally resonant climax. Its most celebrated feature is its anonymous online multiplayer: players may encounter a single fellow traveller along the way, unable to communicate beyond musical chimes and presence, yet often forming a profound, fleeting bond, with names revealed only after the credits. Journey was a landmark critical success, winning numerous Game of the Year and artistic awards, frequently cited as a touchstone in arguments for games as an expressive, emotional art form. POCG noted its multiple D.I.C.E. Award nominations. Brief but deeply affecting, it remains one of the most acclaimed and influential games of its generation. It was remastered for PlayStation 4 and brought to PC and iOS, introducing its acclaimed pilgrimage to still wider audiences.
