About This Game

Psi-Ops: The Mindgate Conspiracy is a physics-driven third-person action game developed and published by Midway Games for the PlayStation 2 in 2004. Players control Nick Scryer, a Psi-Operative whose psychic powers include telekinesis, mind control, pyrokinesis, and remote viewing. These abilities are used alongside conventional firearms in a campaign that emphasizes creative, physics-based combat. The game was built on the Havok engine, allowing players to levitate and throw enemies, objects, and even themselves across environments.

The title earned a cult following for its playful sandbox approach and polished mechanics, but a planned sequel was canceled after Midway’s financial troubles. Despite ending on a cliffhanger, Psi-Ops has remained a frequently cited example of a PS2 hidden gem. Its July 2026 re-release on PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4 brings the game to modern platforms with trophy support and emulator enhancements.
