About This Game

SEGA Rally (Nintendo DS Prototype) is an unreleased rally racing game that was briefly in development for the Nintendo DS around 2006. The project was undertaken by DC Studios as a technology demonstration intended to showcase the studio's capabilities on the handheld, but it never progressed beyond a prototype stage and was never officially announced or released. Two decades later, in 2026, a game preservation group recovered a playable build of the prototype and documented it publicly, providing a rare look at what could have become SEGA Rally's second appearance on a Nintendo system after the Game Boy Advance port of SEGA Rally Championship. The prototype features a basic rally racing experience with SEGA Rally branding and runs on original DS hardware. Because it was never finished, the game lacks a full feature set and was not intended for commercial release. The discovery highlights the importance of prototype hunting in preserving video game history.
