Skiing 1999 Edition is a PC skiing simulation developed by Sierra Sports and published by Sierra in 1999. It is one of the very few skiing titles released for the PC, aiming to capture the thrill of World Cup alpine racing. Players can compete in Downhill, Super-G, Slalom, Giant Slalom, and Combined events across five real-world mountains and two fictional ones. A freestyle "hot-dog" mode allows non-competitive descents and stunt attempts. The game features video tips from Olympic gold medalist and World Champion Picabo Street. System requirements include a Pentium 90 MHz processor, 16 MB RAM, 75 MB hard drive space, and a 4X CD-ROM drive. A 3DFX accelerator is supported but provides only modest visual improvements. Skiing 1999 Edition was poorly received due to frustrating controls, bland graphics, and an inadequate manual. It remains a niche curiosity in Sierra's sports catalog.
