About This Game

Streets of Rage Revolution is an upcoming entry in Sega's Streets of Rage series of side-scrolling beat-'em-ups, announced as part of the company's 2026 wave of revived classic franchises. The series began on the Sega Genesis / Mega Drive in 1991 and is remembered for its co-operative brawling and its influential electronic soundtracks. After more than two decades dormant, it returned in 2020 with the well-received Streets of Rage 4, developed by Dotemu, Lizardcube, and Guard Crush Games, which re-established the series with hand-drawn art and modern design while preserving its 2D combat.

Streets of Rage Revolution is positioned as the next mainline entry. Series mainstay Axel Stone returns, and early material shows 2D brawling staged in three-dimensional environments, with a story centred on former police officers fighting to reclaim a city that has fallen under criminal control. Sega revealed it alongside new entries in Crazy Taxi, Golden Axe, Shinobi, and Jet Set Radio.

As of mid-2026, Sega has not confirmed a release date, target platforms, or full development credits for the game. Its announcement was widely noted given the strong reception to Streets of Rage 4, which demonstrated continued commercial and critical appetite for the franchise and set a high bar for any follow-up.
