POCG VERDICT
Pure, muddy, ridiculous fun that doesn't care about highbrow tastes.
Monster Truck Madness 2 is an arcade off-road racer with 20 trucks, 15 tracks, dynamic weather, and a sense of humor that'll have you laughing out loud. It's not a sim, and that's exactly the point.
About This Game

Monster Truck Madness 2 is an arcade-style off-road racing game developed by Terminal Reality and published by Microsoft for Windows 95/98. Released in 2000, it is the sequel to the original Monster Truck Madness and puts players behind the wheel of 20 different monster trucks, including real-world licensed names and fictional rides. The game offers extensive pre-race customization: players can swap gearing for better torque or top speed, adjust suspension, and choose tire cuts that affect handling on different surfaces. Fifteen distinct tracks are available, ranging from dusty desert courses and quiet farm roads to an island circuit with water hazards and a whimsical graveyard filled with bowling-pin coffins. A dynamic weather system adds rain, fog, dusk, and other conditions that meaningfully change how each track feels and plays. Multiplayer is supported over LAN and the internet, with several tracks exclusive to multiplayer lobbies. The game features both first- and third-person camera views, with a blimp cam and other angles, and takes advantage of 3dfx graphics accelerators for reflective water, realistic lighting, and detailed truck models. While the AI is notably simple and the vehicle damage model is purely cosmetic, Monster Truck Madness 2 was celebrated for its sheer variety, goofy humor (including destructible outhouses and launchable cows), and deep replayability. It stands as a cult favorite among arcade racing fans who prefer mud on their tires over polish on their hood.
