Titan Quest
Titan Quest is an action role-playing game developed by Iron Lore Entertainment and published by THQ, first released for Windows in 2006. Set in a mythological version of the ancient world, the game takes players on an epic journey across Greece, Egypt, and Asia, battling legendary monsters from various pantheons. The player creates a hero by choosing two of eight available masteries (such as Warfare, Spirit, Defence, or Earth), combining their skills to create a unique class. The core gameplay follows the Diablo formula: real-time combat, point-and-click movement, randomly generated loot, and a vast world filled with quests, monsters, and treasure. Titan Quest distinguishes itself through its bright, detailed 3D graphics, a skill system where every investment remains valuable, and quality-of-life improvements like a portal stone for instant travel and the removal of item identification and repair. The game supports up to six players in cooperative multiplayer over LAN or online, allowing seamless drop-in/drop-out progression. An expansion, Immortal Throne, was released in 2007, adding a new act, a new mastery, and additional features. Iron Lore closed its doors in 2008, but the game has maintained a dedicated following and would later see re-releases and a spiritual successor.
