Mad King Redemption Enters Steam Early Access With Retro Brawler Action

Retro-inspired roguelite brawler Mad King Redemption is now available in Steam Early Access with co-op play, pixel art visuals, and arcade-style combat.

Indie developer Secret Mission Games has launched Mad King Redemption into Steam Early Access, bringing a retro-inspired roguelite brawler to PC with both local co-op and Steam Remote Play support. The game is also planned for the Epic Games Store and GOG at a later date.

Designed as a tribute to classic side-scrolling beat-’em-ups like Final Fight and Golden Axe, Mad King Redemption mixes arcade-style combat with modern roguelite progression systems. Players battle through corrupted enemy hordes across two biomes while trying to stop a king consumed by dark magic.

One of the game’s standout mechanics is its “Corruption” system, which grants special abilities and power boosts during runs. The game also leans heavily into a retro-inspired presentation with a 2.5D pixel art style and fast-paced pick-up-and-play sessions.
