Jurassic Park: The Game
Jurassic Park: The Game is a 2011 episodic graphic adventure developed and published by Telltale Games, based on the original Jurassic Park film and novel. Released across Windows, macOS, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and later iPad in four episodes, it tells a story running parallel to the events of the first film, following a group of survivors, including a mercenary, a veterinarian and others, attempting to escape Isla Nublar as the park's dinosaurs run loose. In keeping with Telltale's style of the period, gameplay centres on cinematic storytelling, exploration of fixed scenes, light puzzle-solving and frequent quick-time events during the many tense, action-heavy encounters with dinosaurs. The game leans heavily on dramatic set pieces, jump scares and reaction sequences rather than the freeform point-and-click of older adventures. Critical reception was mixed; reviewers appreciated the faithful atmosphere, dinosaur thrills and fan service, while criticising the heavy reliance on quick-time events, stiff animation and limited interactivity. Released shortly before Telltale's breakthrough with The Walking Dead, Jurassic Park represents an earlier, more experimental phase of the studio's cinematic-adventure approach, and remains a notable licensed entry for fans of the franchise seeking an interactive return to Isla Nublar. It arrived shortly before Telltale's breakthrough hit The Walking Dead, which would define the studio's later cinematic style.
