About This Game

The Legend of Zelda is an action-adventure game developed and published by Nintendo, originally released on the Famicom Disk System in Japan in 1986 and on the Nintendo Entertainment System internationally, and the foundation of one of the most influential franchises in video-game history. Created by Shigeru Miyamoto and Takashi Tezuka, it casts the player as the young hero Link, who must explore the sprawling, dangerous land of Hyrule, gather the eight fragments of the Triforce of Wisdom, and rescue Princess Zelda from the evil Ganon. Revolutionary for its time, it pioneered open-ended, nonlinear exploration in a persistent overworld, combining action combat, dungeon-crawling, item collection, puzzle-solving and secrets hidden throughout the world, and it was among the first console games to feature battery-backed saving, allowing players to preserve their lengthy quests. Its emphasis on discovery, adventure and player freedom established a template that profoundly shaped the action-adventure genre. A massive critical and commercial success, it launched a legendary series spanning decades and dozens of acclaimed entries. POCG noted its re-release among NES classics on a modern eShop. The original Legend of Zelda remains a foundational masterpiece and one of the most important and beloved games ever made. It launched one of the most acclaimed franchises in gaming, spanning dozens of entries across nearly four decades.

Adam had three father figures, and every one of them put a console or a keyboard in his hands. One made him a Sega guy for life. One handed him the web software that built POCG. One bought him a PlayStation just so he could keep writing.
