Anbernic RG SP

The Anbernic RG SP is a Linux emulation handheld released in August 2026, and the slimmest entry in the company's long line of clamshell devices modelled on the Game Boy Advance SP. It replaces neither of its predecessors outright: it takes the 3.4 inch screen introduced on the RG34XXSP and the stickless, button-only control layout of the RG35XXSP, and puts both into a body Anbernic describes as roughly 90 percent new tooling and about 10 percent slimmer than the outgoing model, with reduced bezels around the display.

Internally it is unchanged from the RG35XX family that Anbernic has shipped since 2023. The Allwinner H700 provides four ARM Cortex-A53 cores at 1.5GHz alongside a dual-core Mali G31 MP2, paired with 1GB of RAM and a 64-bit Linux system. There is no internal game storage at all. Two microSD slots handle everything, each supporting cards up to 512GB, which allows the operating system and the game library to be kept on separate media. The 3.4 inch IPS panel runs at 720x480 with OCA full lamination, and the device carries dual-band Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.2, HDMI output for television play, a USB-C port, and a 3300mAh battery Anbernic rates at six hours. It weighs 168 grams.

It launched at $64.99 for the console with a 16GB card, discounted to $57.99 during the opening days of sale, with bundles adding a 64GB or 128GB card at $72.99 and $87.99. Four finishes were offered at launch: graphite, platinum, pearl blue and pearl pink. Unlike most handheld launches of the period, units shipped immediately rather than through a pre-order window.

The RG SP arrived in the same week as AYANEO's KONKR Pocket Advance, a second Game Boy Advance homage aimed at the same nostalgia from a considerably more expensive corner of the market.
