EverQuest Release Date

989 Studios announced today that its highly anticipated PC title EverQuest, a massive online role-playing game, will be available Mar. 16, 1999. EverQuest features a multitude of adventures and quests making it an extraordinary evolution in online role-playing games. EverQuest is being launched with a substantial marketing campaign that includes broad-based print and online advertising, retail-specific promotions and in-store merchandising. Retail pre-sell promotions will begin in February 1999.

For January 1999, this is the business side of gaming doing what it always does: studios forming, publishers moving money around, lawsuits flying, and everyone promising the next big thing. Somewhere in that mess, players eventually get the games. Maybe.
