Heavy Gear II Goes Gold, Hits Stores June 18

Activision's giant robot combat sequel Heavy Gear II has gone gold and ships to North American stores June 18 with more than 80 missions.

Heavy Gear II has gone gold at Activision and lands in North American stores on June 18. The sequel to the giant robot combat sim packs more than 80 missions of single and multiplayer warfare, set in the 62nd century and built on a completely new engine that runs on 3D hardware only. No accelerator card, no war.

This one leans on brains as much as firepower. You lead an elite strike force through stealth squad tactics and covert missions to scout, sabotage, destroy and mislead enemy forces, fighting across swamps, forests, dense cities, outer space and territory deep behind enemy lines on a distant hostile planet. You can issue complex commands to your squad mates and stage diversions to ambush enemies, which sounds like exactly the kind of thing that will separate the real pilots from the pretenders in multiplayer.
