Activision Ships Heavy Gear II to Stores This Week
Heavy Gear II ships to over 10,000 North American stores this week: 62nd-century squad combat for Windows 95/98 with a new hardware-only 3D engine, $49.95.
Activision’s Heavy Gear II is rolling into more than 10,000 retail outlets across North America this week at $49.95. The sequel to the popular Heavy Gear drops you into 62nd-century squad combat, solo or multiplayer, across more than 80 special-operations missions on Windows 95/98.
The big change is a completely new engine built for 3D hardware only, so leave your software renderer at home. The battlefields get real variety this time: swamps, arctic zones, volcanic terrain, and urban base sites, dressed up with vehicles, structures, flying debris, and fire and smoke effects. Stealth squad tactics in a giant walking war machine is an easy sell around here. My wallet was just starting to recover from this month, too.
