Hercules no Eikou II: Taitan no Metsubou arrives on PS5 and Switch 2 via Console Archives
The 1989 Data East RPG Hercules no Eikou II: Taitan no Metsubou hits PS5 and Switch 2 via Hamster's Console Archives line, with English UI but Japanese text.
Hamster has released the 1989 Famicom RPG Hercules no Eikou II: Taitan no Metsubou on PlayStation 5 and Nintendo Switch 2 as part of its Console Archives line, priced at $7.99/800 yen. The game, developed by Data East, follows a hero journeying across a vast world to stop monsters from conquering it, gathering allies along the way. Originally exclusive to Japan, this reissue includes English menus and a manual but leaves the game’s text in Japanese.
Console Archives continues to be a reliable pipeline for preserving Famicom and arcade curiosities on modern hardware. On top of save states and controller remapping, this release offers CRT-style filters and screen layout options. For a game that never left its home territory, it is another small but worthwhile door propped open.
