Krikzz has released a new firmware update for both the Mega EverDrive Core and Pro, and the standout addition is an option for the 32X extension unit — the original Sega accessory shipped with early 32X revisions to improve compatibility with some Model 1 Genesis/Mega Drive consoles. The setting, disabled by default, is there for anyone still dealing with graphical glitches or freezes on those early combos.

The v26.0608 update also delivers significant save state stability improvements, a Recently Played menu bound to the Start button, a file copy/paste system accessible directly from the cartridge menu, and the ability to export cheat files to any ROM on the SD card. A new ‘Mode-A’ ROM launch mode replaces the old Last Game Autoboot option. The full changelog is over on RetroRGB.

It’s a minor firmware bump in the grand scheme of things, but any extra attention the 32X gets is welcome. That hardware add-on sits in one of the most fragile corners of the Genesis ecosystem — finicky cabling, odd power needs, and compatibility headaches have claimed plenty of units over the years. A flash cart update that smooths out one more rough edge is exactly the kind of practical preservation move that adds up.
