SimCity 3000 Passes One Million Copies Shipped

Electronic Arts has shipped over one million copies of Maxis' SimCity 3000 worldwide, with a Mac version arriving this summer at $49.95.

Electronic Arts has shipped more than one million copies of SimCity 3000 worldwide. The Maxis city builder came out of the gate hot after reaching stores in the last week of January: PC Data had it as the best-selling US PC game in both February and March and second best in April, and EA says it also took the top sales spot in many European and Asian markets, where it remains a strong seller.

Maxis has been feeding the game since launch with a series of free add-ons and online support through the official SimCity website, which is exactly how you keep a city builder alive month after month. Mac owners finally get their turn too: EA announced a Macintosh version of SimCity 3000 for this summer at a suggested retail price of $49.95.
