Age of Empires Online is a free-to-play RTS/MMO hybrid developed by Gas Powered Games and published by Microsoft Studios, released in 2011. It blends classic Age of Empires real-time strategy with persistent MMO progression: levelling civilizations, equipping gear and tackling quests. The official service shut down in 2014.
